Role Overview
SMPnet is looking to attract a Senior Power Systems Engineer / Power Systems Manager to join our growing engineering team and support the integration of Omega suite into power systems worldwide.
This role combines technical leadership, client engagement, and team management. The successful candidate will lead a team of engineers, (including DSOs, TSOs, and energy companies), and oversee the delivery of high-quality power system solutions, including design, development and validation activities before shipping them to the client.
What will you be doing?
- Lead the development, validation and testing of optimisation & control algorithms for power systems (transmission and distribution)
- Prototype and benchmark of developed solutions in relevant industry-standard software packages and practices
- Perform and oversee power system studies including load flow, optimal power flow, contingency analysis, stability, and grid integration studies
- Translate customer needs into system requirements, functional specifications, and project deliverables
- Support the commissioning, troubleshooting, and performance assessment of power system solutions in laboratory and operational environments
- Develop technical specifications, design documentation, and engineering reports for power system applications and client projects
- Conduct technical due diligence and feasibility assessments for new technologies, products, and network applications
- Contribute to the development of new methodologies, tools, and analytical capabilities
- Present technical results and project updates to internal teams and external stakeholders
- Support business development through technical proposals and client discussions.
What We’re Looking For
Essential Skills and Experience
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems Engineering
- Strong experience in power system analysis and modelling
- Experience with Python, Pyomo or other relevant optimisation programming languages and packages (e.g. GAMS, Gurobi, etc.)
- Experience delivering technical projects in the energy or utilities sector
- Experience interacting with technical audience and presenting technical results
- Excellent communication skills in English (written and oral).
Bonus Skills & Experience
- Prior work experiencewith DSOs, TSOs, or energy utilities
- PhD in Power Systems, Electrical Engineering, or related field is highlydesirable
- Knowledge of smartgrid technologies, flexibility markets, or grid optimisation
- Experience integratingoptimisation or advanced analytics into power system applications
- Experience managingengineering teams or mentoring junior engineers
- Strong organisationskills and attention to detail
- Results oriented withstrong ownership and accountability
- Excellent presentationskills, credible at a senior level
- Ability to work in afast-moving, entrepreneurial environment.
